Süfur Cycles - in the beginning
The cats out of the bag!
Süfur is alive and I couldn't be more excited. My goal is to keep you all informed as best I can with periodic newsletters detailing significan news and things I think you might find interesting at Süfur HQ.
What’s next
Building a business.
This is the tedious part. This isn’t my first time around — I started and ran a bike shop for eight years, which gave me a solid feel for the industry and what works (and what doesn’t).
That experience taught me a lot, and this time I’m aiming to build something more focused and sustainable — something that reflects what I’ve learned and what I really care about.
“When can I get a bike?”
Without a doubt, this is the question I hear most often — and I get it!
To answer that, let me first share a bit about the bike I’ve been developing over the past three years. This isn’t just any bike — it’s purpose-built for bikepacking. It features generous tire clearance, plenty of space for a full-size frame bag, and geometry that’s been dialed in for a stable and comfortable ride over long distances and varied terrain.
I’m planning to offer it in four sizes, from Small to X-Large, and will also provide the option for custom reach and stack adjustments for riders with specific fit needs. Right now, I’m taking the time to make sure each size is properly scaled, so the ride quality and design intent stay consistent throughout the range.
If all goes to plan, I expect to have everything finalized and ready in the next couple of months. Thanks for your patience — it’ll be worth the wait!
Projects
Building bikes for myself is easy, I know exactly what I want and the constraints I need to work within. But building for others is a different challenge altogether.
This year, I took on several custom projects, each with unique geometry, fit, and intended use. The goal was to better understand how to collaborate with riders, learn what matters most to them, and clarify what I want to offer as a builder.
Twin top tubes anyone?
Workshop (Where the Heart Is)
last but not leaset no frame builder can create without their workshop — it’s where all the pondering and planning come to life. I’ve spent a lot of time building this space with practicality and flow in mind. Frame building involves countless procedures and tools, and without order, things can descend into chaos quickly. I’ve been constantly shaping and reshaping the workshop as I build frames, and this ongoing process has resulted in an efficient space, with essential tools within arm’s reach and a designated place for everything.
I’m someone who can’t work in chaos. While it might suit others, it doesn’t work for me. An organised environment allows for a smoother workflow — and that ultimately makes this a much more viable venture.
Although this doesn’t fully explain the progress, I hope it helps give you a better sense of where I’m at with Süfur right now and maybe answers some of those burning questions.
Stay tuned for the next edition, where I’m hoping to share a definitive date for when the bikes will be available, as well as give a closer look at some of the project I’ve been working on.
